At Violet Wild, we’re firm believers in cannabis and its health and wellness benefits. We see every day how this incredible plant enhances lives and brings people together. From helping to ease those everyday stresses to just making life a little more enjoyable, we truly believe in the healing properties of this amazing plant, and we know many of you do too. But as much as we love talking about all the good it can do, we’ve got to keep it real – there are some things we just can’t say.

In a study titled An examination of cannabis-related information typically asked by consumers at retail cannabis locations: A Canadian survey of budtenders and managers, researchers examined the frequency and types of medical questions posed to retail cannabis workers in Canada. The study revealed that 87.7% of cannabis retail workers and managers receive daily inquiries about the medical use of cannabis, with common questions about THC, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. This highlights a significant gap in healthcare, emphasizing the need for trained professionals to provide accurate medical advice and avoid potential risks associated with unlicensed recommendations. For more details, access the study here.

We know a lot of you come to us with questions about the medical benefits of cannabis. It’s something we hear often, and it’s no surprise – there’s so much discussion about how cannabis can support health and wellness. Unfortunately, our role as retailers means we’re not allowed to offer medical advice or make specific health claims. It’s a bit of a bummer, but rules are rules. The good news? We can still help you find the information you’re looking for. We can point you toward reliable educational resources that explore the medical side of cannabis, so you can learn more about how it might fit into your wellness journey.

Realm of Caring (RoC)

A fantastic resource we highly recommend is the Realm of Caring (RoC), a non-profit organization dedicated to taking the confusion out of cannabis. Realm of Caring was founded in 2013 by two mothers whose children had epilepsy (one founder’s daughter inspired Charlotte’s Web CBD). They aimed to bridge the gap in cannabis education and highlight its life-saving therapeutic value so other families could benefit as they had. What began as an information resource quickly expanded into a network focusing on organization, advocacy, research, and education on cannabinoid therapies. Their mission is to improve the quality of life through transformative, plant-powered therapies, offering resources for individuals, families, healthcare providers, and the hemp and cannabis industries. To help you get started, here are links to a few of the resources offered by Realm of Caring:

  • Research Library – Here, you’ll find research-backed information that delves into the science and benefits of cannabis
  • Cannabis Education Blog – From recipes to informational guides, stay updated with the latest news, articles, and insights on cannabinoid therapies.
  • Client Success Stories: Read inspiring stories from those who have benefited from the positive impacts of cannabis.

This article titled 10 Years of Advocacy: Realm of Caring’s Effective Impact on Cannabis Education by Kristina Etter highlights the achievements of Realm of Caring and how they have guided individuals through cannabinoid therapy, challenged stigmas, and driven legislative change.
